Let’s take a Holiday Break

Being the Wednesday between Christmas and New Year’s Day, let’s take a “podcast break.”  So, there will be no new audio this week.  However, the Holiday Giftaway is still on.  Just answer one of the questions I’ve posed in any of the past three podcasts, send me an answer via Facebook, Twitter,or e-mail (george@narrationbygeorge.com) and I’ll send you the instructions to download one of the books in the Narration by George Library of audio books.

Join me in 2017 for more on audio books, spiritual ideas, and other items of interest.

#90-The Christmas Story & the Holiday Giftaway

This week, I take most of the podcast to re-tell the Christmas Story – that miraculous event which brought the world the Savior we all need.  Not only do we hear the story, but I share music which is appropriate for the events of the story.

We also share a new question for our Holiday Giftaway.  Correctly answer the question about the story of Christmas, and you’ll get to download a free audio book!  What a deal!

#88 – Pearl Harbor Remembrances & Holidays GiftAway

Today is the 75th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese Empire on December 7, 1941.  I start out today’s podcast by remembering the overall events as well as hearing stories from some of the few survivors left.  Plus, there is a surprise at the end of the story that I just learned about today.

We also spend some time looking at two mysteries which are fun reads.  The first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study is Scarlet, is a great mystery which actually helped to change the way the police investigations are conducted today.  And Becky Wooley’s book, Non Prophet Murders, takes us into the world of churches and how they might – or might not – work.  It’s a book which makes you laugh and think, too.

Or course, both of these books are eligible for the Holiday GiftAwayBe one of the first 10 to correctly answer a question about the Christmas Story from the scriptures, and I’ll send you a FREE AUDIOBOOK from the Narration by George Library of book.  Listen for this week’s question.

#85 – Sherlock Revisited, #2

A Study in Scarlett CD cover

After detouring to honor our veterans last week, I pick up this week’s podcast to continue our look at the first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlet.  This novel is divided into two parts.  In the first part, we learn who committed the crime.  In the second part, we find out why.  So, I play excerpts from my production of the second part of the novel from the amazing description of the western desert to the perpetrator’s tracking down his victims.  I think you’ll enjoy this look at an amazing writing.

Sgt. John Yell (back, right)

This Friday is Veteran’s Day.  So, I wanted to honor my fellow Vets with music and reading.  This podcast features a little about the job I used to do for the military, the Armed Forces Medley (all the themes of each of the services), some poetry from Regina Puckett, the story of Sgt. John Yell, the uncle of one of my authors, and the prologue from a book, Undeserved Favor, that will be out in the spring featuring the fictional Sgt. Frank Ballard.  I close with some scripture and commentary that are particularly appropriate for this post-election season.

#82-Risen: The Story of Lazarus

lazarusThis week, we break from our look at audio books to delve into some spiritual areas.  I recently spent a weekend dealing with the deaths of two parents in two families close to me. Putting these two events so close together stirred my soul deeply.  When I got back to my home church the following weekend, I heard a lesson from John 11 on Lazarus.  What should our perspective be on a story of resurrection?  I share this lesson with you on this podcast.  (This podcast is a bit longer than usual.  I hope you can hang with me!)
