#60-Meet Mr. Holmes & Dr. Watson

A Study in Scarlett CD coverThis week’s podcast is the first of two which samples from my latest in the Narration by George Classics series: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s first Sherlock Holmes story, A Study in Scarlet.  Not only does this story introduce us to Holmes and Watson, but we learn how they met and came to team together.  We also get a look at the process by which Holmes brings his deductive process to the science of crime detection.  This mystery takes us from the streets of London to the desert and mountains of the American West.  Join me for the beginning of the journey!

#55-ReCast: An Interview with Becky Wooley

Non-Prophet Murders coverBecky WooleyIf you listened last week, you know that we are going to feature some older podcasts as “re-casts” for the next four weeks while I move and re-build my studio in a new home.  This week’s re-cast features my friend and author, Becky Wooley.  As a minister’s wife and church secretary, she has the inside scoop on how churches run.  And she has taken that information and some great imagination to write the clerical crime novel, Non-Prophet Murders.   Grit along with three pastors find themselves the target of a killer.  Can Grit and his girlfriend, Grace, find the killer before he or she strikes again!  Full of humor, satire, and some scary moments, Non-Prophet Murders keeps you guessing “who-dun-it.”  Listen and find out how she does it!

#54-An Interview with Michael Miller

Michael Miller lobe & matterI interview author Michael Miller in this week’s podcast. Michael is the author of The Sixth Lobe and Born to Matter, books we looked at on podcasts #51 & #52.  Michael’s writing is detailed and exciting, with the action jumping off the page into your imagination.  His characters are varied and interesting.  And his subject matter is unique.  Imagine a boy and, later, a man with the ability to read your subconscious thoughts.  Or a space traveler assumed to be dead, returning to earth through a “fold” in space.  Or that same traveler bringing aliens with him.  How about more Biblical documents like the Dead Sea Scrolls.  Such is the imagination of Michael Miller.  Join me for a fascinating interview!

#51-The Sixth Lobe

The Sixth Lobe CoverThis week’s podcast is the first of three podcasts featuring books by author Michael Miller.  This week’s book, The Sixth Lobe, is the first of two telling Danny Wilson’s story.  In this book, we meet 10 year old Danny and discover that he has an additional lobe in his brain.  With this lobe, he is able to read the sub-conscious thoughts of those around him.  This presents problems for the child; while some adults with nefarious goals decide that this is a useful ability to tap into.  This conflict leads to an amazing climax.  Listen to some samples from this book in this podcast.  (Next week, we’ll meet the adult Danny.)

#46-Two Mysteries & an Adventure Tale

Non-Prophet Murders cover01 AStudyInScarletThe Destined_CoverThis week’s Audio Book of the Week is a great murder mystery full of satire and commentary about matters involving the way we Christians do “church”.  How do murder and church go together?  Check out Becky Wooley’s clerical crime novel, Non-Prophet Murders. It’s a great listen which we sample in this podcast.

Last week, I announced that two new books were in production. This week, I have samples for you to hear from each of the books.

  • The very first Sherlock Holmes novel, A Study in Scarlett, is the first time Dr. Watson & Holmes work together.  Today’s sample is from the first meeting between Watson & Holmes.
  • The Destined is the first novel for authors Glenn Eidson and Brent Hurst.  Six people – five teens and their teacher – are endowed with special powers to become The Destined: those with the responsibility to save the world from some really bad stuff!  In today’s sample, we see how one learned of his special endowment.

Seasons of Change

This week’s podcast looks at the next two releases from Narration by George and looks back to a still-exciting-to-listen-to release from 2014.

  • A Study in Scarlett is the first of the Sherlock Holmes novels by Arthur Conan Doyle.  Production has begun on this novel with release expected in March.
  • The Destined is a new novel from two new authors, Glenn Eidson and Brent Hurst.  This young adult release is exciting for any age and will be an exciting listen.
  • Seasons of Change is an exciting listening experience.  The United States Government has collapsed.  Mobs and gangs are trying to remake the eastern part of the country into their turf.  Ordinary citizens are just trying to stay low and not be enslaved.  Michael is one of those just trying to be unnoticed.  Until….  You have to read the book to find the rest of the story!

#43-Looking Back, Looking Forward

2015 and 2016 year written on sandy beach sea. Wave washes away 2015. The concept of 2015 is gone, come the new year 2016.

CoverFor the opening of any new year, looking back and looking forward in assessment is always interesting.  Looking back, we see the accomplishments and failures of the year.  And we look forward in wonderful expectation of what the new year will hold.  So, it is with Narration by George.  I look back at the titles that are available.  I look forward to new distribution channels and new authors.  And I start with an interview with author Donna Patton.  Take a listen!
