We start a new series today in “Books That Go Together.” Sometimes a story is so good that it cannot be told in just one novel. It must spread across to a second, maybe a third, maybe more. Think of the Lord of the Rings series, for example. I have recorded several books which fall into this category.
Today I focus on a book which covers the life of an extraordinary young man named Michael. Since this covers his life, it had all the elements you might want to see in a book – mystery, adventure, romance, and even some science fiction. And that is just in book one. Listen for some samples of a wonderful read.

Welcome to a new podcast for this week with an intriguing title. What do diets, destruction, and deductions have in common? They are all representative the wide range of audio books which have been released this year by Narration by George. Take a listen to samples from Slimmer (newly released), The Destined (saving-the-world action & adventure), and A Study in Scarlet (the classic Sherlock Holmes mystery).
This week’s podcast continues where we left off last week. A Study in Scarlett is separated into two different parts. Last week, we looked at part one. This week, we look at part two. We start with the passages which outline the events which take place in America and affect the London events which we looked at last week. Then we begin listening to some of Holmes’ descriptions of his deductions. Join us for some amazing descriptions of the American western landscape and some exciting events. There is also a couple bits of trivia about books and reading.
I interview author Michael Miller in this week’s podcast. Michael is the author of The Sixth Lobe and Born to Matter, books we looked at on podcasts #51 & #52. Michael’s writing is detailed and exciting, with the action jumping off the page into your imagination. His characters are varied and interesting. And his subject matter is unique. Imagine a boy and, later, a man with the ability to read your subconscious thoughts. Or a space traveler assumed to be dead, returning to earth through a “fold” in space. Or that same traveler bringing aliens with him. How about more Biblical documents like the Dead Sea Scrolls. Such is the imagination of Michael Miller. Join me for a fascinating interview!
This week’s podcast is the first of three podcasts featuring books by author Michael Miller. This week’s book, The Sixth Lobe, is the first of two telling Danny Wilson’s story. In this book, we meet 10 year old Danny and discover that he has an additional lobe in his brain. With this lobe, he is able to read the sub-conscious thoughts of those around him. This presents problems for the child; while some adults with nefarious goals decide that this is a useful ability to tap into. This conflict leads to an amazing climax. Listen to some samples from this book in this podcast. (Next week, we’ll meet the adult Danny.)

This week’s Audio Book of the Week is a great murder mystery full of satire and commentary about matters involving the way we Christians do “church”. How do murder and church go together? Check out Becky Wooley’s clerical crime novel, Non-Prophet Murders. It’s a great listen which we sample in this podcast.
